The Canadian Story and Song Explorer
The Canadian Story and Song Explorer project is a creative collaboration with with Prince Edward County-based musician Sam Hirst, elementary school age children and other artists in the community. With this program, participants form a choir using storytelling and songs to interpret and expand on Young Imaginations' existing programs focused on learning about Canada’s rich past. Through music, storytelling, drama and choral singing students explore the history of the Loyalists, Acadians, War of 1812, Louis Riel, Black Canadians, Inuit, and Haudenosaunee (People of the Longhouse). The choir presents a unique opportunity to learn about Canada’s diversity of cultures and their history. The Canadian Story and Song Explorer project culminates with a perfomance for the public.
